Sainfoin’s War By W.J. Mitchell and Colin Buckenham
Unfortunatly no official crest was given to these L.S.I.(L)'s, so the crest to the right was made up from Sainfoin's "History".
H.M.S. SAINFOIN was named after the winner of the 1890 Derby
He was purchased by Sir James miller just a few days before being entered for the Derby and was ridden by a jockey named J. Watts. His racing colours were white and gold, and the Derby is known as the Blue Ribbon Race, hence the ribbon overlaying the horse shoe
Sainfoin later sired the colt 'Rocksand' the tripple crown winner some thirteen years later. Sadly, being a gelding there were no further issue.
